Join Your Local Library for Indie Author Day 2016

By |

Libraries across North America will be hosting the first annual Indie Author Day Oct. 8.

At 2 p.m. EST, each library’s indie community will come together for an hour-long digital broadcast featuring Q&A with writers, agents and other industry leaders.

In addition, throughout the day, each participating library will offer events individualized to their local authors community. Events may include writing workshops; presentations on how to self-publish and market your book; book readings and book signings by successful indie authors; networking with fellow writers; and tutorials on Pressbooks Public and SELF-e software. The platforms, available for free to patrons in select libraries, enable indie authors to format their books professionally and distribute them into library collections.

SELF-e, one of the Indie Author Day partners, is a collaboration between Library Journal and BiblioLabs designed to cultivate robust local writing communities and keep libraries at the center of the indie book movement. SELF-e helps self-published authors and indie presses expand their readership while adding new and diverse indie eBooks to library catalogs across the country.

Pressbooks Public is an indie author platform that turns public libraries into writing centers for local authors, helping them to format their books for distribution in library collections, and commercial ebook and print-on-demand channels.
