We’re excited to announce the sessions that Pressbooks will be running during Open Education Week.

Open Education Week is a global event run by Open Education Global to raise awareness of open education, its benefits, and its impact. This year there are over 120 events, and Pressbooks is excited to be hosting three events covering a range of topics.

Growing Institutional OER Programs: Is Pressbooks Right for You?

Tuesday March 5, 1:30pm ET

Join us for a guided show-and-tell about Pressbooks networks and what to consider as you make choices around open publishing tools for your campus community.

How to Find and Remix Great OER with Pressbooks Directory

Wednesday March 6, 12:30pm ET

Join us for a walkthrough of Pressbooks Directory—a free, searchable catalog that provides access to over 6,300 books from 170+ publishers that have been created with Pressbooks.

Cost Savings and Beyond: Demonstrating Impact and Effectiveness with Open Education

Thursday March 7, 3pm ET

Join a panel of open education experts including Dr. Michael Mills, Amy Hofer, Cheryl (Cullier) Casey and Allia Service as they explore critical questions around how to demonstrate the impact of open education. 

Sessions from the Pressbooks Community

In addition to the sessions we are running, there are several Pressbooks customers who will be providing insights into how their institutions are using Pressbooks. There are sessions on how to empower faculty to create unique OER, best practices for creating accessible OER, the power of interactivity and more. 

Empowering Education with Pressbooks: Innovations in OER

Join Montgomery College for an interactive session spotlighting the transformative role of Pressbooks in the creation of Open Educational Resources (OER). This session will feature two MC educators who have harnessed the power of Pressbooks to develop unique educational materials.

Creating Accessible OER 101

Wednesday March 6, 11am ET

Join University of Oregon Libraries for a session on creating accessible content in Pressbooks. Participants will leave this workshop with a good understanding of accessibility principles and best practices applicable in any digital format and concrete examples of how to make Pressbooks content accessible.
