Updated Terms of Service Plug-In
We’ve reworked our Terms of Service plug-in for clarity and consistency.
What is the Pressbooks Terms of Service Plug-In?
The Terms of Service Plug-In is what Pressbooks uses to display and manage the Terms of Service agreement that users see (and must agree to) when using a Pressbooks network.
What has been updated?
We’ve rewritten and simplified the logic behind how the Terms of Service are shown and tracked, specifically:
- Users are now required to agree to the ToS (if they haven’t already) before they can access the dashboard or start creating content.
- The interface that shows the ToS is now more user-friendly, with clearer buttons and layout
- It supports site-wide enforcement of updated terms—so if the ToS changes in the future, everyone will be prompted to review and re-accept them.

🔧 Improvements and Fixes
More Accessible Navigation
We’ve prevented horizontal overflow in the admin top bar and added labels for select inputs to improve screen reader support.
Cleaner Interface
We removed unused menus and unnecessary alt text in the admin dashboard to simplify the UI
More Reliable Exports
Bug fixes include better handling of attachments and part labeling for improved accessibility.
