The Pressbooks Accessibility Authoring Tool has now officially launched and is available for all Pressbooks Enterprise Networks. Powered by Editoria11y, this tool helps authors identify accessibility issues in their books and receive actionable guidance on how to fix them.

With the Accessibility Checker, users can:

  • Review Pressbooks content for common accessibility issues
  • Get real-time alerts about missing alt text, heading structure, and other accessibility issues in the content they are developing or editing
  • See detailed accessibility results and make improvements directly in the Pressbooks visual editor
  • Download accessibility reports for your records

The cost of the Accessibility Checker Author Tool is $299/year for single-institution networks and $499/year for shared networks.

To provide frequently-requested accessibility checker functionality, Pressbooks incurs ongoing costs to maintain and support this feature. By offering it for an add-on fee, clients may choose whether to make it available with a network-level opt-in.
