New Feature: PressBooks Book “Home Page”

PressBooks has a newly-designed homepage for your book, here’s what it looks like:

We pull all the information about your book to build this page from various places in your PressBooks Admin panel:

  • Title, description texts (tagline, short description, long description, author, cover and catalog metadata) from the Book Info page in your PressBooks admin.
  • The “Buy” button & link get generated when you fill in your ecommerce links on the “Sell” page
  • The “About the Author” text gets added if you add Backmatter, with Type=”About the Author”

Private vs. Public

You don’t need to make this page public to the world — but since it looks so beautiful, don’t you think you should?

Of course we’ve made the design responsive, so it looks nice on smartphones and tablets, here it is on the iPhone:
